In November 2018 Dani García is the only new Spanish chef to have been awarded three Michelin stars in the 2019 Spain and Portugal Guide. The 42-year-old masterchef picked up the prestigious third star for his eponymous restaurant in Marbella, becoming one of two establishments in Andalusia with the top rating. Dani García was given Michelin’s highest accolade for “exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey” in recognition of his “unique way of reinventing Andalusian gastronomy in a contemporary form,” according to Michelin. But Dani Garcia is also present in the capital city with restaurant BiBo Madrid. Decorated by the interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán, the restaurant reflects the travelled essence of the BiBo cuisine with a giant hot-air balloon hanging over the bar, and with the concept of a refined, cosmopolitan and elegant Andalusia using a structure of 7,000 light bulbs that cover the restaurant walls in a sophisticated representation of the Feria de Málaga lights. Flavour and the best seasonal product are the two constants in Dani García’s cooking. Concepts that are fulfilled to perfection by one of his fetish ingredients: tuna. The chef’s passion for the “Iberian sea creature” is reflected in the dining room by a huge sculpture of a blue fin tuna.
